With our teaching experiences fast approaching, it gives us time to reflect on the things we are super excited about and the things we wish would just hurry up and be done with! For me, there are a number of things things that I'm excited about and excited to get over with! :)
I am most excited about seeing the student's excitement when the butterflies emerge. I love that this experiment will be exciting for both boys and girls (bugs and butterflies)! Since my planning is all done, I'm excitedly anticipating the result and hope the lesson goes well; I know chances are the lesson won't go exactly according to plan, but that's okay with me too. I'm really excited that I have a partner up there with me who can help me if I get stuck.
As of right now, only a couple of things are making me nervous or scared. Although I've made great strides, public speaking makes me a little nervous; even though the audience is a room full of 7 and 8year-old students, I'm still a bit apprehensive. I'm nervous that despite all of my preparation, a student will stump me with a question that I just don't have the answer to.
I feel confident that the lesson will go really well. Although I'm nervous about a couple of things, the positives far outweigh these. I hope the students are as excited about this lesson as I am and I can't wait to get started!!
Alisha, It sounds like you are really prepared to teach your lesson. I'm sure your students will be excited about the butterflies. I'm excited about them and I'm not even doing that lesson. If you get stumped by a question from a student just tell her you will have to research the answer to the question and you will have it for her by the next class. I like that you brought up that you expect that your lesson won't completely go as planned. This will be a good learning experience for you and all of us who are doing this for the first . Good luck, I'm sure you and Paige will do a great job!
ReplyDeleteAlisha- the clock is ticking and its almost time to get this party..I mean, unit...started! As you said, I think it is really beneficial that we will have eachother up therefor support! That way, if a little einstein asks us a super duper questions, we can brain-meld (yes, I made up that word) and either find the answer together or be embarassed together...no biggie, right? haha Well, I cant help but thank that after all this time and energy we have spent since May will only make this a great success! Horray for caterpillars.
ReplyDeleteAlisha, I think we are all having the same sorts of feelings about our first lessons, but I'm confident that we will all be superb! I as well am not to comfortable with public speaking, but it is something we must do as teachers! The more and more we teach, the more we will grow as teachers and gain more confidence! The students will love this butterfly activity, even I remember doing this as a 2nd grader and it was my favorite! These students are not going to be judging us in any means, they're just there to learn and have fun. They will love you and Paige!
